Edit: I am now concentrating on Articles version 2, so v1 will not have any more updates, apart from bug fixes and the odd minor change as needed. If you have a suggestion, please see the v2 features/suggestion list.

This is a list of planned features for Articles. It is by no means a comprehensive list, but will serve as a reference - and help prevent people making duplicate requests

o Implement ratings.
o implement "e-mail this to a friend" thingy. (in progress)
o Implement article add/edit preview.
o Implement notifications.
o Do pagination/pagebreak (similar?) to the Sections module.
o Do a category check in articles section. This is to get user to add a category before an article.
o Add pagination and/or collapsible article listings under the category/article listing. (partially done)
o Make article listings in admin sortable by different criteria (by date, category or ID, etc).
o Set published time to user's local timezone, rather than the server's timezone?
o Option to hide/show various elements such as the "[xx views]" caption on the articles listing.
o Add function to delete articles under category when deleting category.
o Add sub-categories.
o Add blocks for latest/recent and popular articles.
o Add PDF version of article.
o Add feature to add custom meta data/tags.

If site 2 was an upgrade, it sounds as if the template wasn't updated.

Make sure the old templates in the "templates" folder were over-written with the new ones, and go to the modules admin section and update the module again.

Hello all,

I'm not entirely sure the "Description" column in the article admin page is really needed, so I'm thinking of removing it and expanding the category column to show the category name, instead of just the category ID with a pop-up.

What do you think?

Hmm, odd.

There should be a check box for Articles under the various Groups access and admin rights.

There are no blocks at present, so there's nothing to set under the Blocks admin.

If you have no joy with it as it is, try re-installing it and keep a look out for any error messages when installing.

I've not done anything to it for a couple of weeks as I've been working on Articles to get that to a more usable state.

But the database structure is mostly set now, and I am working on the user front end, although I have a couple of decisions to make on the layout. Then the admin side of things will have to be done...

So, it'll porbably be a few weeks before it's ready for release.

All I can say is to keep an eye on this site and/or the Xoops site as it'll be announced on both when it's released.

I've released a new version (v0.09) that contains some changes that may fix your problem. It can be downloaded here.

hello, not sure if this is a bug?

i am using xoops version 2.0.6 and have installed your articles module. when i try to add an article by copy and paste in html format i get a message that data base not updated. i can type in html and it updates though. i cannot not paste plain text either.

Hmm, I haven't encountered any problems with copy and pasting text.

To help me try and recreate this problem, could you tell me what browser you're using, and if possible, which version of mySQL and PHP is on your web site's server.

Also, does it happen with any length of text, or if certain characters are present in the text, etc.

Ta.

I've actually been thinking of doing a similar site to this, but for the UK...

I'm working on something for a release after v0.07 where you can choose in a prefs section to either display categories and articles as it does now, or just the categories that link to the articles for that category.

Other options will appear in later releases...

Ah, after a visit to Google's translation tool, I can see where the confusion has crept in here - it's to do with the language translation.

What would be a suitable German caption for "Display"? I've checked on Google and Display translates to "Anzeige", but that translates back to "Announcement"...

Maybe I shall put a note next to it, or something.
